Habitat Noosa Eco Camping
Camping Trip in Noosa
Aug 2024
Habitat Noosa Eco Camping was our third time visit
About three months ago, we planned a four-day camping trip with our friends from Melbourne. They took a two-week road trip up in their caravan with their two kids and finally made it to Brisbane. From there, it was another two-hour drive to Noosa, where we met at the campsite.
We’d been camping together before—back in our pre-kid days—but this was our first time camping as two full-on family units. I was excited but also a little nervous!
Liam is four, their eldest, Rio, is three, and their youngest, Jack, is one. Luckily, Liam and Rio got along like best buddies from the start, playing non-stop. Seeing them have so much fun together made the whole trip worth it.
A year and a half ago, our friends were still living in Perth. Since her husband worked FIFO (fly-in, fly-out) and was only home every three weeks, I went to visit her for a week with Liam during one of those times. Jack hadn’t been born yet, and back then, Liam and Rio were both too little to really talk. They kept clashing, getting frustrated, and honestly, all I remember is how exhausting it was.
Because of that, I was a bit worried about how things would go this time. But now that they’re older and can actually communicate, they played together so well—it was like night and day compared to before. Watching them have such a blast together made me so happy. 😊
Habitat Noosa Eco Camping
Location
Habitat Noosa Eco Camping is an eco-friendly campsite in Noosa that keeps things as natural as possible.
It’s about a two-hour drive from Brisbane and roughly 30 minutes from Noosa’s main street. Since it’s tucked away in nature, you get to see some incredible wildlife—huge lizards roaming around, mobs of over 50 kangaroos every evening, and even koalas!
To get to the campsite from the main road, you have to drive about five minutes on an unpaved road. If you’re lucky, you might even spot some wild animals along the way. We actually saw an echidna crossing the road as we were driving in—such a cool sight! 🦔✨
Things to Do & Facilities
Habitat Noosa Eco Camping has a big lake with shallow water, making it perfect for kids to play in the water and sand.
Activities: You can rent water sports equipment like stand-up paddle boards, canoes, and kayaks to enjoy on the lake.
Tours: The Noosa Everglades, one of only two Everglade ecosystems in the world, is a truly special place.
Noosa Everglades: You can book a kayak or boat tour to explore the tropical rainforest and observe wildlife.
Bar & Bistro: A spot where you can grab coffee, light breakfast, or enjoy a beer and a meal for lunch or dinner.
As an eco-camping site, the facilities are minimal, but one of the things that makes this place unique is that, unlike most Australian campsites, you can have a fire here. It’s especially great when the weather gets a little chilly.
There’s only one camp kitchen, so if you visit during peak season, it can get super busy, and you might have to wait to do dishes.
The bathrooms and showers aren’t the best, but this place is often available for booking even during peak season. Since we always end up making last-minute plans and never get around to booking ahead, we end up here without many other options.
Day 1
Habitat Noosa Eco Camping was the perfect spot for our long-awaited reunion. It had been a year and a half since we last saw each other, and four years since we saw Eddie and Ryan. Before we even set up our tents, we couldn’t stop chatting about everything we missed! We spent more than 30 minutes chatting away on the grass before finally getting the kids settled in one spot. Then, it was time to start setting up the tents! 😊

The kids were sharing a snack, enjoying their time together.
Although it was the end of August, the weather was incredibly hot, reaching around 30°C.
It was perfect camping weather! During the day, the heat made it great for water activities, and by night, the cool breeze was just right for having a fire.

With two cars, a tent, and a caravan, we created our own little space, and it was great because we even had some shade.
Once the tent was set up, my friend Olivia and I started preparing dinner and setting up the rest of the area.
Meanwhile, the two dads took the boys to the lake inside Habitat Noosa Eco Camping for some water fun.

Once we finished getting everything ready and headed to the lake, the dads were off in the distance, chatting away, while the kids were too busy playing to notice anything else.
As the sun started to set, every photo we took turned out so beautiful. ><
With three kids, though, there was so much to do—getting them fed and keeping them busy—that we didn’t manage to snap any photos of dinner.

After the sun went down, we put our friend’s second child, Jack, to bed, and then took Rio and Liam to roast marshmallows.
Once the two kids were asleep, the four of us stayed up chatting until late, and then we finally went to bed ourselves.
Day 2
Habitat Noosa Eco Camping‘s second morning had begun.
Camping days always start early, and for our two families, the day started even earlier. Liam and Rio had become so close that they were even sitting together on the same chair.

When the little troublemaker, Jack, shows up in the area, everyone tenses up.
He’s still so young, so he doesn’t understand much and ends up getting into everything. He’s also really sensitive and cries a lot, so it’s hard to give him much attention.
Even the other kids go into full-on alert mode when Jack appears. :))

I wonder what these kids are doing over there, eating bananas under the trolley…
When one of them does something, the other one quickly follows suit. It’s just too cute! 😊

Today, we spent the whole day at Habitat Noosa Eco Camping. The water was calm, making it perfect for the kids to play.
They played in the water, built sandcastles, had lunch, and then went back to playing. The day flew by so quickly! 😊
Day 3
Habitat Noosa Eco Camping Day 3!
Today, we went to Noosa Head Main Beach.

Playing in the ocean has its own kind of fun. Liam loves playing in the waves, so he was busy running around, trying to avoid them on his own.
We had planned to meet our friends at Noosa Main Beach, but we couldn’t find a parking spot. So, on the third day, we all ended up playing at different spots and then met back up at the campsite.

They made roads out of sand, and when the waves came and washed them away, they just made them again. It was an endless cycle! 😊
On the way back from Noosa Head Beach,
The road leading to Habitat Noosa Eco Camping from the main road is unpaved, and you have to drive quite a bit before you finally see the campsite.
On the way back, we saw an echidna crossing the road.
On the last night, my friend surprised me by celebrating my birthday a bit early. She quickly got everything ready, and I was so touched! 💖

Traveling with three kids was a bit chaotic, and every day was so busy that I didn’t get to take many photos.
Before we said our goodbyes on the last day, we made sure to snap a photo with the kids. 📸

Hoping we can meet again soon… 😊
