A Perfect Family Getaway at Mövenpick Jimbaran Bali

Kids’ Club, Chocolate Hour, Pool and Restaurants

JUNE 2025

Arriving at Mövenpick Jimbaran Bali!

As soon as we stepped into the resort, we could tell right away this place is perfect for families.

Right at the entrance, there’s a big wooden slide that immediately caught our eye. It looked so fun that not only kids were lining up for it—even some adults were sliding down instead of using the stairs! It was that popular.

Waiting to check in wasn’t boring at all. The entrance area itself had such a fun, relaxed vibe that time flew by.

We got to the resort around 2 p.m., but our room wasn’t quite ready yet. So we quickly grabbed our swimsuits and water gear, and off to the pool we went!

Even though check-in time was officially 3 p.m., we arrived a little after 2 and assumed our room would be ready so we didn’t bother separating our swim stuff in advance. Big mistake!

With nothing else to do, we unpacked in a rush by the pool and spent a good while splashing around. It wasn’t until around 3:30 that we finally got a WhatsApp message saying our room was ready.

Liam and Eddy didn’t want to leave the pool, so I went to the front desk on my own to pick up the room key. I just quickly checked that our luggage had been brought up to the room, then headed right back out to join them. We kept swimming and playing until the sun started to set.

Classic King Room at Mövenpick Jimbaran Bali

We booked the most basic room without breakfast included. Since we have an Accor Plus voucher, we’re planning to use that for breakfast—or maybe try out one of the cafés outside the hotel.

The room was simple and decent nothing fancy, but it had everything we needed. There was a sofa, but no table, so eating in the room wasn’t the most convenient.

We did notice a few ants here and there, especially if we left out any snacks like jelly. After seeing that, we decided not to eat anything in the room at all.

One thing we really appreciated was the balcony. It was perfect for drying laundry, and since the sun hit our side directly, everything dried super quickly—which was a big plus!

The water pressure in both the shower and bathroom sink wasn’t very strong, and the sink didn’t drain well. Still, we managed just fine for the three nights we stayed. Overall, the room felt a bit dated, but it was okay.

What really stood out was how well the resort is set up for families. In terms of facilities for kids, I honestly don’t think you can beat this place. Compared to Sofitel, Mövenpick felt much more kid-friendly and playful perfect if you’re traveling with children.

Swimming Pool

The pool area at Mövenpick Jimbaran Bali is one of its biggest highlights. There’s a beautiful lagoon-style pool that feels like an artificial beach, a large main pool, and a dedicated kids’ pool with slides. Right next to the playground, there’s even a splash pad with fountains perfect for little ones.

On another side of the pool area, there’s a water inflatable play zone, which adds even more fun to the mix.

They also rent out water scooters, which looked really fun! There are three types, ranging from around AUD 20 to 40 depending on the model. The available options vary by age and come with different speed settings.

If the usual pool play starts to feel a bit repetitive, renting one of these water scooters could be a fun way to mix things up!

The sand toys we bought in Sanur turned out to be super handy at Mövenpick Jimbaran Bali. Having those toys definitely made playing in the sand so much more fun—like multiplying the enjoyment several times over.

The next day, Liam spent the whole day from morning till afternoon swimming, building sandcastles with his toys, going down the slides, and even playing with balls. He hardly took a break—just nonstop water and playtime fun!

The inflatable play zone seemed perfect for teenagers and adults, but for Liam’s age, it could be a bit risky. So mom or dad had to stay close and keep a careful eye on him. Of course, Liam wanted to try everything he saw.

I was a bit nervous he might get stuck between the obstacles or slip under the water, so I stuck close and helped him navigate the course. Still, he loved it and went back again and again. Honestly, the real challenge here was the parents—jumping from one inflatable to another, following the kids underwater, and making sure they were safe was quite the workout!

One thing we noticed was that Mövenpick Jimbaran Bali was absolutely packed with Australians. It felt like they had pretty much taken over! Hearing Aussie accents everywhere almost made us forget we were even in Bali.

Most Australian families seemed to come in large groups, often with nannies assigned to each child. The kids played freely with their nannies while the parents relaxed, occasionally joining in with the kids. It was great to see everyone enjoying their time with so much freedom around the resort.

This time, we just took it easy and spent the whole day relaxing at the resort. It felt so much more laid-back, and Liam seemed a bit older and easier to travel with, which made everything more comfortable.

Maybe that’s why even though the trip was short—we ended up taking tons of photos.

Here’s a picture Liam took of the two of us!

At the pool, having a waterproof cover on your phone was super handy. It let us snap photos anytime, even while in the water, which was awesome.

Just a heads-up: we’ve seen cases where water got inside the waterproof cover and damaged the phone, so you definitely want to be careful with it.

Relaxing Moments in Our Hotel Room

After swimming all day, we’d shower and then spend about 30 minutes playing in the room before heading out for dinner. Sometimes we’d watch a bit of TV too just a nice way to wind down.

Liam brought along quite a few toys. They’re small, but somehow he managed to pack a surprising number of them! Haha.

Play Ground and Kids Club

The playground had a rubberized floor, which made it really safe for running, climbing, and jumping around. Right next to it was a splash pad where little kids could play in the water while wearing their swimsuits. So the kids could easily switch between water play and playground fun.

Just beside that area, there’s also a gym and a kids’ club, making it super convenient for families.

The kids’ club at Mövenpick Jimbaran Bali is spread across two floors and even has its own small cinema that plays movies just for the children.

Compared to Sofitel, the kids’ club here seemed better, and Liam definitely liked it more—probably helped by the fact that there was a little movie theater too.

You can leave your kids at the kids’ club free of charge for up to four hours a day. If you want to stay longer, there’s an hourly fee. That said, I wonder how many parents actually leave their kids there for a full four hours.

The club runs different activities throughout the day, some of which require an extra fee. Liam wanted to make a kite, so we timed our visit for that activity, paid the fee, and he enjoyed the kite-making session. After that, he spent an hour or two just playing freely at the club.

While Liam was at the kids’ club, we had some free time to relax, which was a huge plus.

Many hotels in Bali have several educators on staff inside their kids’ clubs, and the doors are securely locked to prevent children from wandering off—so it feels very safe. Of course, the kids need to be at an age where they can handle being there somewhat independently.

This trip, having a good kids’ club meant we could take a break for an hour or two each day, which made the whole experience much more enjoyable for all of us.

Liam really wanted to fly the kite he made, so we first tried it around the resort. But soon we headed out to the wide beach nearby to give it a proper go.

We only ventured out to the beach in front of the Mövenpick resort on our last day during our 3-night stay — and wow, it felt like stepping into a whole new world!

There were lots of locals, and it seemed like everyone from Jimbaran gathered at the beach around sunset. The beach was wide and looked perfect for kids to play on. It was a bit of a shame we only got to visit on the very last night.

Liam ran back and forth trying to get the kite in the air, but it kept falling no matter how hard he tried. After a few attempts, he decided to just keep the kite instead of flying it anymore.

Chocolate Hour and Happy Hour

From 4 to 5 p.m. was what we called “chocolate time” — a buffet spread with a chocolate fountain surrounded by fruits, cookies, bread, popcorn, and more for dipping and snacking.

Right next to it, they made fresh cotton candy on the spot. The kids absolutely loved it, and the chocolate fountain was a hit with both kids and adults alike.

Between 3 and 5 p.m. was also happy hour! They had a buy-one-get-one-free deal on cocktails, so we always made sure to enjoy at least one cocktail during that time.

Mövenpick Jimbaran Bali Restaurants

Mövenpick has two main restaurants: Anaaara on the ground floor and Adriana Cocina & Bar, a Mexican restaurant located on the rooftop.

Honestly, Anasara’s food was quite disappointing and didn’t meet my expectations. On the other hand, I really loved the Mexican restaurant Adriana Cocina & Bar was absolutely delicious to me.

A nice bonus is that both restaurants offer a 50% discount for two-person meals if you have an Accor Plus membership.

At Anasara on the ground floor of Mövenpick Jimbaran Bali, we tried the famous Balinese dish, Mie Goreng. It was extremely salty and honestly, the taste was just average but the portion was huge.

Next to that, we ordered the signature dish, Beef Zurich, which is a Swiss specialty. Unfortunately, it was also very salty and definitely one of the most disappointing dishes we had.

The burgers were just okay nothing special. We also had breakfast there, and although the place was always crowded, many dishes were often out of stock. Compared to other hotels we’ve stayed at, the breakfast options here felt quite limited.

We planned to eat dinner out every night, but after swimming late into the evening, it often felt too late to head out. So despite knowing the food wasn’t great, we ended up having both lunch and dinner at the hotel several times.

Adriana Rooftop Bar is actually a Mexican restaurant, and if we had known how amazing it was earlier, we definitely would’ve chosen to eat all our meals up there instead of downstairs. It was such a shame we only discovered it on our last day.

We ordered the octopus salad along with several other dishes, and everything was delicious. The atmosphere was fantastic—completely different from downstairs—and it made the whole dining experience really special.

On our last night, we enjoyed Bintang Radler!

Bintang Radler is perfect for hot countries—refreshing and easy to drink—so after trying it once, we pretty much stuck to it for the rest of the trip.

And just like that, our final night in Bali arrived. With only seven full days (excluding the two travel days), it felt way too short, leaving us wishing for more time and wanting to come back soon.

While Bali might not be everyone’s favorite destination, if your main goal is to enjoy resort facilities, there really isn’t a better place than Bali.

SANDPIPER BALI

One day, we skipped breakfast at Mövenpick Jimbaran Bali and went to a café instead.

SANDPIPER BALI

We couldn’t forget the smoothie bowls, so we came back to Jimbaran just to have them again. While they were tasty, I think the ones we had in Sanur were even better.

Honestly, it’s hard for any smoothie bowl to taste bad—they’re always a safe bet—but still, I really wanted to enjoy one more.

Personally, I prefer having a delicious coffee and a single dish at a café over hotel breakfast any day.

The handmade pancakes were also really good, though they took quite a while to prepare.

The coffee was so good that I’d definitely call this place a coffee hotspot.

Massage & Laundry

We discovered an amazing massage shop near Mövenpick Jimbaran Bali and ended up going there twice for massages.

The prices were cheaper than the hotel spa but a bit higher than the really budget places around Bali.

The therapists seemed to know exactly where to focus, and when choosing the Balinese massage, you could pick between oil or butter (cream). I went with butter, and you can also choose the pressure level by just telling your masseuse.

Tipping isn’t really expected in Bali, but since the massage was so good, I gave a decent tip to show my appreciation.

Laundry– At first, we tried to go to Happy Klin Laundry, but they were closed on Sundays and told us to come back two days later. So we looked for another place and found a different laundry shop on the way to Mövenpick Jimbaran Bali, which was actually closer to the resort than Happy Klin.

There was another laundry nearby, but this one seemed cleaner and better maintained, especially the washing machines. Our laundry weighed about 3.6 kilos and cost only IDR 25,270, which was quite affordable.

They sent us the booking details via WhatsApp, which felt very reliable. Since we had their contact number, it was easy to communicate before pickup if needed.

This place doesn’t show up on Google Maps, so it’s a bit hard to describe exactly, but if you walk toward Mövenpick Jimbaran Bali from Happy Klin Laundry, you’ll find it. There’s a car repair shop right next to the laundry.

Last day in Bali

After dinner on our last night, we took a taxi to a supermarket.

We picked up some souvenirs and snacks to take home as memories from Bali. We quickly filled up a whole basket and then headed straight back to the hotel.

One snack I can’t forget is the cassava chips—they might be unique to Bali, but they’re crispier than regular potato chips and absolutely delicious. Of course, I made sure to buy some!

The next morning the day we were heading to the airport—we had breakfast, packed our bags, and caught a taxi at 9:30 a.m.

Our flight was at 1:15 p.m., so we left with plenty of time just in case. Luckily, it took less than 20 minutes by taxi from Mövenpick Jimbaran Bali to the airport.

We arrived really early, but fortunately the check-in counters opened a bit ahead of schedule, so we checked in right away and went through security.

We spent the waiting time shopping for a few more gifts for close friends at the duty-free stores and grabbed a meal. Before we knew it, time flew by.

Our Jetstar flight to Brisbane was delayed about 30 minutes, so we settled on the airport floor, keeping busy with some coloring activities.

After the 6-hour flight (plus the delay), we finally got home around midnight.
